Nineteen of the Russian's 21 victories have been won on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev won his first trophy for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging season, winning just one match at the big events and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer his previous coach.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought three-set triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden trophy since the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since spring of 2023.

The win also means Medvedev has won 21 titles at twenty-one various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the initial championship I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, including in Halle previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had prompted some to question if his skill to play at the highest level was finished.

But the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to advance forward and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the tricky opponent, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to create a third set.

He saved four early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian won the break to fifteen to secure the win.

Fittingly, he clinched the win with a point at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
